Notice of Determined Admission Arrangements: Reduction in PAN
Following the recent public consultation regarding the proposed changes to the admission arrangements for Charlbury School, the Governing Body and RLT have now met to formally review all feedback received.
We would like to thank all parents, local residents, and stakeholders who took the time to submit their views. After careful consideration of the responses and a thorough analysis of local birth rates and long-term financial sustainability, the Governors have made the following decision:
Decision
The Governing Body has determined to lower the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 30 to 20.
Implementation
This change is intended to take effect as soon as possible, beginning with the admissions cycle for the next available academic year, subject to final approval from the Department for Education (DfE).
Rationale
This decision was not taken lightly. The reduction to a PAN of 20 will allow the school to:
-
Ensure class size stability: Aligning our intake with the current number of pupils attending the school and the forecast demand in future years, allows for more consistent organisational planning.
-
Protect school resources: A sustainable Pupil Admission Number (PAN) ensures that the school can continue to offer a high standard of education and a broad curriculum within its budgetary framework.
-
Strategic Planning: Moving to a PAN of 20 supports the long-term viability of the school’s infrastructure and staffing models.
