Safeguarding

Charlbury Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have safer recruitment procedures in place, and a range of policies to ensure that your child is safe whilst at school.

Click the link here to find the policies and procedures aimed at providing a safe environment for the children which is conducive to learning. We also aim to identify children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, taking appropriate action if required to keep them safe both in school and at home. This includes preventing unsuitable people working with the children; promoting safe practice (and challenging poor and unsafe practice); identifying instances in which there are grounds for concern about a child’s welfare, taking appropriate action to keep them safe; and contributing to effective partnerships between all those involved with providing services for the children.

We have a strong safeguarding team, headed by Ms Charlie Barwell, who deals with most issues related to child safety and protection, and liaising with other agencies where necessary. She also handles most of the behaviour issues that fall outside the agreed sanctions within the behaviour policy.

You can contact any of our safeguarding team listed below should you have any safeguarding concerns.

The school's safeguarding team members are:

  • Charlie Barwell - Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Ben Trevail - Leadership Team and (DDSL)
  • Amy Wiggin  - SBM and (DDSL)
  • Shelley Parsons - Nurture Lead  and After School Club (DDSL)

Should you require further information our policies and procedures can be found here.
